My housemate uses my computer as well and he's always
logging off my computer instead of shutting it down. This
causes it to think it's on a network and starts asking me
to click on my user button at startup.

Is there any way of disabling the logoff buttons?

Log on as the Local Administrator. Start the Local Group
Policy editor by typing gpedit.msc.
find administrative templates under user settings, go to
System --> ctl+alt+del options and enable the "remove
loggoff" setting.

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Windows XP Security Console. This
application will allow you to make specific changes to the user shell,
administrative restrictions and etc, and apply them on a per-user basis.

If its your computer tell your housemate to stop logging
off or stop using your computer
