Disabling Download Manager

I have just bought some software on-line and I have been advised to disable
my download manager to allow it to be downloaded - as currently it just hangs
whilst trying to download. How do I do this? Thanks.
 
Unfortunately, you did not mention the name of the download manager program
you have installed. However, I would suggest you check its help file
(typically accessible from the Help menu).
