for the sake of freeing up some system resources, I diabled some win2k
pro services which I (lol) figured weren't relevant to my machine.

Now, I can't log on. The cursor becomes an hourglass on the Log On To
Windows dialog box, and remains an hourglass forever.

Have tried Last Known Good Configuration, plus all the other advanced
startup options available via f8 during bootup, to no avail.

Any ideas, anyone?

Ps...my machine has two drives, each with win2k pro loaded. I can
select during startup, which operating system I want to load. There
is only one master boot record, which is located on my c-drive. The
c-drive works fine, it's my other drive which will not boot.

Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mark

Boot from the other install and restore your most recent backup of the
system hive found in;
%windir%\repair\regback

You can re-enable services from the recovery console.

Your console idea worked great, shawn, thanks!!

I did in fact re-enable the "workstation" service, which I believe is
the service which hobbled my logon screen after I had disabled it.

I was unable to find the files the other gentleman referenced in his
post, however.

Next time I mess things up, lol, I'll turn to the recovery console
to undo the damage I do. lol.

Thanks again, you two guys who posted answers.

Sincerely,

Mark
