Disable User Saving to Desktop

Short of NTFS-permissioning the Desktop folder in a users profile, is anyone
aware of a way to prevent users having write access to their desktop area? I
don't want users to be able to save anything to their desktops.

Short of permissioning or Mandatory profiles, no.
