DISABLE SCRIPT DEBUGGING

Could you include a fix in the next Internet Explorer 6 SP1 cumulative update that DISABLES Script debugging by DEFAULT because many ppl get popups saying "DO YOU WISH TO DEBUG" when they don't even want to do any programming.

That's a valid point Frank and only one problem with it. That is an existing
"User" setting and I think MS are reluctant to change user settings unless
they are brand new ones, which of course can be given a default like the
attachment blocking in OE6.

That was set to block and 1000's of people complained, because a familiar
behaviour changed, yet it is very much safer in terms of security. Changing
an existing setting is even worse in some ways, although I think in the case
of this debug setting a programmer would spot it immediately.

Wait and see what everybody else thinks.

At risk of talking to myself:-

Frank, didn't think about it before but if you get no more replies (people
may assume I answered your question) you might want to do a new post with
Feature Request - Disable Script Debugging by Default or something similar
as the title, most MVPs will read feature request out of curiosity <g>

Not changing the user's setting would be the best way to handle this. The problem is that every time we apply an IE update it turns off Script Debugging. We help the users change their settings and all is fine until we roll out the next IE update, then it is back to answering all the questions about script debugging.

Clarification on our Scipt Debugging settings

Before applying update
On - Disable Script Debuggin
Off - Display a notification about every script erro

After applying update
Off - Disable Script Debuggin
Off - Display a notification about every script erro

It doesn't affect every user every time but does seem to affect most users most of the time.
