Disable Fields/Tables

If I want to disable certain elements of a web page (if, for example, a user
clicks a certain radio button that would make other parts of the form
unnecessary to complete), how would I do that? Thanx!
 
In other words, you would use one of these, depending upon what you were
trying to do. If you can be more specific about what you want to do, the
answer can be more specific too.
