disable control toolbox

I opened "Control Toolbox" on my toolbar to see what it was and 'play with
it.' It now comes on everytime I open word, even when I take it out of my
toolbar. And, when I turn it off, if I use a hyperlink, it automatically
turns the design editor on and makes my document unprotecable. So
frustrating. I thought, when you turn the toolbar off/take it out, it is gone
until you insert it again. I need help before I spill coffee on my laptop...
on purpose (and it is my laptop).

Thanks, Michael.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?RHViZm94?=,

If the Control Toolbox is appearing automatically, this is often a sign that
1. Macro Security is set to "High"
2. The document you're trying to open contains something in the vba area

Elements (ActiveX controls) from the Control Toolbox do activate this vba area,
so any file that ever contained ActiveX controls will trigger macro security.

If you set macro security to Medium, do you get a message about enabling macros?
And if you tell Word to enable the macros in this document, does the Control
Toolbox still appear?
