Disable Authntic Windows Logon

Is there a way to Disabel teh Authentic Windows XP pro logon dialog box?

When I boot the system tells me The System could not log you on etc,
etc...when I cancel this dialog box I go straight to the User Accoutn
Screen..I want skip the first dialog box and go directly to this screen.

Can this be done?

open control panel, click user account, click change the way user log on and
off, and enable the welcome screen.
