disable an email account, not delete it

Does anyone know how I can disable or skip an email account when I request
Send/Receive. I do not want to simply delete a password etc. as this hangs up
the email scan and asks for the missing information.
Thanks for any advise.
 
tools -> options -> mail setup -> send/receive -> edit
there you can specify what accounts to include or exclude when doing a
send/receive
