DirectX9.b problems not resolved

Hello,
I've received some helpful advice from this group about my
problem, but I still can't install directX9.0b.

As I run the install, the installer gets to the "copying
files" parts, stops on d3d8thk.dll, then quits and says
"DirectX did not copy a required file -- installation failed."

I've got a 64MB NVIDIA Geforce4 420 mx with the current
driver from NVIDIA. I've tried to restore to a point
before my first attempt to install, and that didn't work
(XP wouldn't restore that far back.) And I've gone through
every update or system optimizer I know how to do.

Any ideas? I'm really frustrated about this because I've
been trying for over two months to get the durn thing working.

Thanks
zach

Hey Zach Try to get a file or dll name for it and then
run a search on the net for the specific file it did not
download and get it from a different site then when You
download direct x9.b direct it toward that file or in a
folder that has that file You downloaded earlier. so
basically try again and then get Your file name it is
missing and then install that first from a patch site...I
hope this helps a lil by the way You might have to do is a
coupla times to get all the files You are missing when You
download dx9 sometimes they keep bringing up dll files
that are missing after You find the one You need!!!!

Have you turned off any of your services like "Cryptographic Services" or
any others? Some of these services are actually needed despite the claims of
some performance tweaking "experts". Also, where exactly did you get the
download? If you didn't get it from an official Microsoft source it may have
been altered.

might be ur solution!!! directx intall cryptographic, cabinet untrusted error

just yesterday, i tried to update my directx version.
but i got a cryptographic error, cabinet file untrusted error whatsover:eek:
i tried to search d net and found nothing dat solves my problem,
but i realize everything was fine before i installed some programs...
til i came up uninstalling the programs i have just recently installed.
a few painstaking uninstallations and restart sessions...

i finally found out what causes the directx installation to fail.

FLYAKITEOSX desktop transformation!!!

if u happen to have this enhancement installed
or maybe any other transformation packs that modifies system files,
u might want to uninstall them to make everything ok.

if u still need to enhance your desktop after installing directx
u should shift to safer transformation packs available.
just take some time to browse and read articles...

gudluck! hope this might be a help...
