Help! My Sims2 was working fine - then I did some cleaning of old files and
now my Sims2 will not work - notice says "Failed to find any DirectX9.0c
compatible graphics adapters in the system...." I did the diagnostics test -
under display it says "This system is using a generic video driver. Please
install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." Let me say
here that I'm not smart where computers are concerned; however, ugraded my
computer to get Sims2 to work in first place and it was working. Any
suggestions???? Tks in advance.

Hi ibe1cent,

D/load and install the most recent video adapter drivers from either the
video card manufacturer's website or the motherboard manufacturer's website
if you have onboard/integrated video.

If you don't know the make/model of video adapter, d/load, install and run
Everest Home Edition (freeware):
http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=1

When you first open Everest after installing, click on the Computer icon in
right-hand pane, then click on the Summary icon in right-hand pane. Scroll
(if necessary) to locate Display under the Field column in the right-hand
pane. It should display the make/model of your video adapter.

Regards,

How did you do cleaning of old files?
If you were using tools not native to Windows perhaps you should not use
them again.
Check your Recycle Bin.
If the necessary files are there, right click them and choose Restore.

Go to the website of the video card/computer manufacturer and get the latest
Windows XP video driver.
