My XP Home system has DirectX ver. 9.0c. Splinter Cell's Chaos Theory Demo is
asking for DirX's Shader Model 1.1. Is it possible to install such a request
and If so...how ? Thank you for any help.

Thank you LT. It is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller. If this
isn't up to par please let me know. Also the game specs showed it works w/ XP
and that XP was pre loaded with Shader Model 1.1 ?

Here is a link to Intel's Game Compatibility List on their support site:

As you will see, Splinter Cell will not work with your graphics chip.
The problem is that this is onboard video and onboard video is not a
good choice for gaming. You really need an AGP or PCI Express video
card. I very much doubt your computer has PCI Express, but open it up
and see if there is an AGP slot. If there isn't one, then you've got a
decent workstation for surfing the Internet and doing office work, but
this will never be a gaming box. If you do have an AGP slot, buy
yourself a good video card. A mid-range gaming card is around $200 usd.

Thank you Malke. Sorry it took so long to respond to your reply, didn't think
this system would be able but had to ask. Will check for AGP slot as advised.

No problem. The AGP slot is the short brown one, in case you weren't
sure.

Before investing in a ~$200 graphics card, check if the rest of the system
is upto scratch. Are you running a 3Ghz processor or equivalent? Do you
have at least 512 RAM? Without these basic requirements the graphics card
in that range would not be used to it's full potential. Satisfying these,
you could go for a Geforce 6600GT - AGP or PCIe depending on which bus is
provided - There's really nothing to beat it in that range.
