DirectX issues..

I have a Windows XP machine with SP1 installed.
and i get this error when i install directx 9b
(C/P the URL)

i am at a loss to rectify the problem.

i have tried the redist version, XP still wont install it.

And please, the last thing i want to hear is reformat the
machine :|
any other suggestions are appreciated!

System Specs
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2Ghz
512MB Ram
ATi Radeon 9000 128Mb Gfx
Asus A7V8X-X Mobo
120GB Seagate HDD,

Have you perhaps tweaked your Services on your system? There are problems
doing installs if Cryptographic Service isn't running. Go into Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Service and make sure it is started and running.
Other than that you should post to one of the microsoft.public.directx.*
newsgroups for a more concise answer from those folks.

Thanks for the reply, however it was a clean install and i
have tweaked nothing, i will look into the cryptographics
and get back to you...
