DirectX download problem

I was trying to download a new game demo at Download.com
and it said I needed direct x,so I went to microsoft.com
and tried to download DirectX 9.0b. When i tried to run
the download it said that the download failed and that i
should check my network connection or try again later. I
tried both but it still won't install. What should I do?
(I have an Hp pavilion 515n windows xp computer. 2.3ghz)
