DirectX and STSFC3 Problem.

I have a Dell Dimension 2350 Desktop that runs WinXP,
2.0GHZ, 53GBHD, 256MBRAM. I also have a program called
Star Trek Star Fleet Command 3, which requires DirectX 8.1
to run correctly. It was running fine until I upgraded to
DirectX 9.0. Now when I attempt to run the program, it
says that DirectX 8.1 is not installed. I have re-
installed DirectX 9.0 several times, Dxdiag.exe shows that
I have DirectX 9.0 installed, but yet the program still
fails to function. And it is just that program. Any
suggestions?

A patch was released to fix this issue, it can be downloaded from:
