Directory Services errors

John Cleveland

I have a w2k3 forest with 1 root domain controler and 5 child domain
controlers (all w2k3). Each of the domain controllers are running DNS (they
are all in physically different locations). One DNS server is reporting
errors every 15 minutes from the NTDS KCC and NTDS Replication sources
(1311, 1865, 1566, 1925, and 1645). Have tried everything to try and repair
this. Can someone please help?

This is not a DNS problem. On the server that is experiencing the problem,
go to AD Sites and Services, go to Sites, Go to the Site that contains the
server, click on Servers, click on the name of the server, Right-click on
"NTDS Settings" and click "New Active Directory Connection". Create a
connection that points to the DC in the root Domain.

Now repeat the same steps, this time creating a connection on the root
Domain DC, pointing to the Child DC that is reporting this error. This step
may not be necessary as it is most likely that the Root DC's KCC already
created this connection. But, check it anyway.
