Directory I can't remove - Crescendo

I have a strange problem. There's a directory on my workstation hard drive
that I can't remove. It's address is c:\windows\crescendo\

I have no idea what this is or how it became loaded on my workstation. It's
not a worm, virus or spyware although it may be the result of one. There are
no files in it and it's using relatively no space. However, it has tons if
sub-directories, many with very odd names and therefore I can't delete them.
I've tried everything short of wiping out my hard drive and starting over
which I prefer not to do. Has anyone ever encountered something like this?
How do you get rid of it? Thank you.

Try opening a console window ("DOS Box"), navigate to c:\windows, and
type:

rmdir /s /q crescendo
