I know that one can make a file password-secure, but can one do the same for
a folder containing several files instead of having to password-secure each
file separately? If so, how?

Thank you!

Normally one only sets security on folders only, then it applies to the
files in the folder.

And with XP it isn't really 'password security' . .whether you can
access a folder or not is determined by who the system thinks you are
(your user ID .. or more accurately the Security ID that is associated
with the user ID).

So you don't set a password of 'XYZ123' on a folder, you change the
security settings such that user 'Fred' has read/write/<whatever> rights
to the folder, or you deny user 'Joe' any rights at all.

Start, help, 'access control'
