DirectX is a set of APIs for audio and video rendering. As such,
there is no "direct x 9.0c" program that you run. Other programs,
like games, makes calls to the API. You haven't identified WHAT
program you are actually running. dxdiag.exe, for example, is a
program - but I haven't a clue what you mean by "a bad line". Are you
trying to run the tests in dxdiag?

Do you know the make/model of you video card? A 3D accelerator is a
video card which has the hardware to render 3D. If you video card
does not have this type of hardware, the no amount of software /
drivers will let the 3D to work.

This is the November redistributable I take it? Didn't help at all?
What about current video drivers?

I was assuming that it was a bad line, due to the code errors that i was
getting when running the test in dxdiag. Direct 3d 7,8,9 test relults all
failed at step 8.
Then in Direct x files tab it is showing that the file d3d9d.dll is a debug
version. I'm thinking i've jumped the gun on saying it was a bad line. What
does the results mean?

After all the time ive been asking and messing with my computer on this
problem and it turns out that it was a updated driver that was causing me
problems. I rolled it back a few versions and it now works. theres a slight
oddness around the edge of the screen but at least i can work from this
point. thanks to all.
