Is it possible to install SP2 without SP1?
Also, What exactly is slipstreaming? Does it mean that I can update Windows
XP Prof Ed.installation CD to Windows XP Prof Ed. SP2 cd?

Thanks.

YES, SP2 can be installed without sp1, since it includes
all sp1 fixes as well.
You have heard of sliptreaming, that's impressive, but make
sure you know what your doing.
Your original XP disk, MUST BE free of SP1 to slipstream,
easy information can be found at www.bootdisk. com, scroll
web page to locate "HOW TO ADVICE", not enough room on
message board to explain all the details.
Good-luck

That is not true! I have had no problem slipstream
updating WinXp SP1 CD-ROMs to SP2 and subsequently
installing from the slipstreamed CD-ROM.

Where you can or will run into a problem is if you take a
OEMs disc that also has had customized OEM applied updates
to the CD-ROM. Example an Original Release that has been
modified with hotfixes that came out after the Gold but
prior to SP1 and or starting with an SP1 that has also had
post SP1 hotfixes applied.

In other words if you have an Original Gold Release or a
SP1 Only disc they should slipstream without any problem.

Yes. SP2 includes all that is still relevant of SP1, not superseded

Merging the files from SP2 into a set from an original CD to give the
whole disk needed to install from scratch in one operation
