Direct connection via IEEE1394 / W2K possible?

Is it possible to connect two PCs running Windows 2000 Professional (SP3)
directly via Firewire/IEEE1394? If yes, how??

When I connect the two machines the "Found new hardware wizard" pops up and
requests a driver for the "IEEE 1394 PC" device, which of course I cannot
find anywhere (since it is supposed to be a driver for the second PC sitting
at the other end of the cable...)

Both machines have OHCI compliant Firewire controllers (4-pin) which work
nicely with everything I tried - except each other..

Is there a solution for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thank you!

Win2K does not support IEEE1394 networking.
WinME, XP do support IEEE1394 networking.

Thank you for the quick - and clear! - answer.

Does anybody know a way to abuse Firewire for a simple file transfer between
W2K machines? (barebone, virtual drive maybe?)

Thanks

1. Use a crossover ethernet cable connected NIC to NIC on the computers
2. Use a staight thru ethernet cable connecting both computers to a HUB,
Switch, or router
3. Connect an external firewire (IEEE1394) hard drive to one of the
ethernet connected computers and share that drive. Then drag and drop or
copy the files between the computers.
