Direct Cable Connection

I need to conect my desktop pc to my Laptop via direct cable connection. My
problem is on the laptop, i go to network tasks, create a ne connection, set
up advanced connection but then the item connect directly to another computer
is shaded out in grey, making what i need unavailible. on the desktop all
over the above is avalible. both machines are using XP as the operating
system, i have check all system ssttings i can think of but still can't find
the answer.

Most likely, the difference is that one ID/pass is on both machines as a
user, and another ID/pass you are using on the other machine is not also on
both machines. DCC is very difficult to use without using an ID/Pass that
exists on both systems.
