Digital Video Camera Software

I have a JVC GR-D72 that came with ImageMixer software that I find very
difficult to use. I have a Dell Computer (Dimension 4600) that has Dell
Media Experience on it, but can't get it to open. Assuming there is other
software out there to capture pictures that I take on film or using a video
card, what do any of you recommend.
