digital photo transfer problem

I get a message that my USB ports are not functioning,
but then go to device manager and it says they are
working.

Alternatingly, I get a transfer window to pop up (Kodak
easyshare software and camera) but the computer tells me
no photos are found on the device.

Can one of you fine XP folks help me out?

Have you tried changing the USB cable?
