digital cameras not recognized

I can only get xp to recognize my cameras, I ave tried uninstalling host
controllers and rebooting but that only works till I shut the pute down
again. I update driver through dev mgr choosing MS enh contr over Intel and
that works till shutdown, after start-up intel controller again becomes
default. Any suggestions please, my XP is always current, this has always
been a problem with this computer. It is an MSI mobo with an Intel 365pe
chipset. thank you

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but you initially installed drivers
from the camera cd, and updated, when neccessary from the camera manu site
only, and not winupdate?

I have auto update turned on for MS. It does not not recognize any usb2
device nutil I manually update the driver thru dev mgr/usbcontrollers/intel
enhan host contr24dd, at which time I pick to install the MS version of this
contr. After this is finished installing everythig works fine until shutdown.
When I start up again I must repeat this process for the computer to
recognize any usb2 device. Is there somewhere, in registry or somewhere that
the original usb2 ehci from intel will always be the default at start-up? I
thought sp1 was supposed to fix this
