I'm having trouble with my new Dell laptop with Windows Vista. This doesn't
happen with my old desktop with Windows XP. It will never let me sign on, on
the first try. Sometimes not the 2nd either. I get an error message about a
known incompatibility. No IP routes. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Sue,

It's difficult to identify the problem, without knowing the error message.

Can you give us the exact text of the error message that you see?

Are you on a corportae network with Active Directory? Or, is it a home
network?

Thanks,

Andrew--
It's a home network. I have Qwest DSL and an AOL screen name. I have no
problem getting on with Internet Explorer, and I could always do that I
guess, but then I don't have access to my mail waiting to be sent and some
other features.
I signed off and tried to get back on and couldn't dulpicate the problem to
see what the actual error message was! Each time I was able to sign on no
problem. So now I'm wondering if it's only when the computer has sat unused
for awhile that this happens?
Error message--
AC-3001; er 0x84100118
OS Vista; ACS 4.7.14.1

Hi Sue,

This error message is being generated by AOL Connection Services software
("ACS"). It's not a Windows error message.

I'm not familiar with the AOL software, so I regret I can't give you any
help with this. Maybe some AOL users in this forum know the answer.
Otherwise, you might need to ask in an AOL user support forum, or similar.

If you get a Windows error message, post it to this newsgroup and we might
be able to help troubleshoot it.

Sorry I couldn't do more to help; I hope you get it solved!

Thanks--I'll look for an AOL user support forum. Now that AOL is free, I
can't get (free) technical support anymore.
