Difficulty creating a server name

I am trying to complete the information in the 'Directory Service Account' in
order to successfully be able to use Windows Mail. However, I need an
example word and or phrase for a 'server name.' I do not want to continue to
receive the message "...the specified LDAP..."

I haven't set up any Directory Service Account and I'm using Windows
Mail without problems. To send and receive mail with it, you need to
set up an email account. To send and receive newsgroup posts, you
need to set up a newsgroup account.

Ask your email provider (who is probably also your internet provider)
for their instructions for setting up to use their email servers. If they
haven't written instructions for Windows Mail, use their instructions
for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail instead. The
instructions are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you
could tell us who your email provider is and see if anyone here
already knows where to find the instructions.

Similarly, if you want to use newsgroups, ask your newsgroup
provider (who is probably also your internet provider). Or tell
us who your newsgroup provider is.

The instructions will include the names of the servers they use.

Thank your for responding to me but I don't think that I was specific enough.
I am trying to send and receive windows mail and cannot. In the properties
box of the windows account, it asks for a "server name," in order that the
account is complete. When I typed in a server's name seemingly the account
was finished. However, when I resent an email to another one of my emails as
a 'test' document and or attachment, I received the following messages:
First one:
The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly
Second one:
Subject 'Help and Support' Account: 'POP3,' server: 'SMTP; Protocol: SMTP,
Port 25, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number 0x800CCC0D

'SMTP' is not a valid server name. Ask your email provider (who is probably
also your internet provider) for their instructions for setting up to use to
use
their email servers, which should include the server names and any other
settings you need to use. If they haven't written instructions for Windows
Mail yet, use their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail
instead. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web site. Or,
you
could tell us who your email provider is and see if anyone here already
knows
where to finf the instructions.

FYI there is a feature in Windows Live Mail for setting up a new account
that automatically searches for the correct email server. This happens when
you click on "Add an e-mail account". All you need to provide is your
correct email address and password for your account, and it goes out and
searches for your email server, and if it finds it, automatically enters the
server information. It doesn't always work but when it does, it's awesome!
As for Directory Service: I've never heard of that for typical home email
accounts. It's used for active directory (MS Exchange Server) networks, I
think. No need for that when you are not logging on to a domain network.
Good luck!

solved.
