Different scroll bars

In both Excel XP and Excel 2003 when you use your mouse to
scroll up and down, spreadsheet moves with it.

But in either Excel 2000 or Excel 97 things are
different. When you use mouse to scroll up and down,
spreadsheet does not move until you release the mouse. A
yellow screen tip (popup menu) appears with row number on
it when you scroll.

My question is: is there any way to change the setting in
Excel 2000 or 97 so spreadsheet will move with the scroll
bar? Personally I don’t it can be done. However, this
question came from one of my customers and I just want to
make sure my answer is based on a reliable resource.

Thanks.

Hi Yingwen,
I don't know about the mouse, but it sounds like you are referring
to the Arrow Keys, and I guess you want the Scroll Lk invoked,
if so you are the first person on a PC that has asked for that.
Or perhaps I misread. The Scroll Lk button is a toggle, when it is on
you will see the Scroll Lk light on the keyboard and SCROLL
in the 6th window pane on the right of the Status Bar at the bottom.

As I said most people here do not want to see the Scroll Lock light
nor the SCROLL lettering on the Status Bar. I think you want
to see them. If not do the opposite.
