There is no Word Standard or Word Professional. There's Word. Period. And to
create an html document with Word, you just do a File - Save As and change
the file type. No clue what this "Edgar docs" this is.

See http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/compare.mspx for a
comparison of the various Office SKUs. The difference between Office
Standard and Office Pro as it affects Word is stated in this note:

Note Office Professional Edition 2003 includes additional support for
Extensible Markup Language (XML) and information rights management (IRM) and
allows you to use Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office
System.

The lack of either XML or IRM could affect your ability to access or open
EDGAR documents.

Hi Jo Ann,

Actually, for Office 2003 there are two flavors of Word and of Excel.
As Suzanne points out, if you get the Professional or Small Businsse Management Suites, you get the extended features for
customizable XML. You also get those features if you purchase Excel or Word as standalone versions, but not if you get them as part
of the Standard, Student & Teachers or Small Business Edition products.

EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering) files are financial disclosure related. http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml
