Didn't get drive space back after deleting folders and their files

I shift-deleted over 10 big folders (all larger than 1gig in size) together
with all their contents (files) but didn't get the space back in the C:
drive. After I discovered this I tried deleting another folder without
bypassing the recycle bin and I got this space back perfectly (according to
explorer). But I still didn't get the 15 gigs space back from the previously
shift-deleted folders and files. What should I do to get the space back?

Sounds like System Works, right click the recycling bin
and choose, empty protected item.
