There have been many prophets in the world -- MOHAMMED, MOSES . . . JESUS.
Each one had a specific message for their time. God gave the Prophet Moses
the Ten Commandments. Moses prophesied that He would raise up another
Prophet, one like himself. This was a direct reference to the Prophet Jesus.
Jesus expounded the words of Moses. He said, "You have heard it said by them
of old, Thou shalt not commit adultery, but I say unto you, that whoever
looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with
her in his heart." He said that if we as much as get angry without a cause,
we are in danger of Judgment, and that "every idle word a man speaks, he
will give an account thereof on the Day of Judgment."
The teaching that Jesus brought was that each of us has broken the Law of
Moses. Who of us hasn't looked with lust?
The Holy Book says that if we as much as hate someone, we commit murder in
our heart. If we have told one lie, or stolen one thing, then we are lying
thieves.
So what should we do to avoid being found guilty on Judgment Day? How can we
escape the damnation of Hell? Should we live good lives? That won't help.
This is why:
If I murder on Monday and live a good life for the rest of the week, I am
still a murderer.
If I lie and steal, no amount of good works or time can remove the fact that
I am a lying thief. Should a righteous judge acquit a mass murderer or a
vicious rapist because he had become a virtuous person since his crime?
The man is forever in debt to justice, and he must be punished according to
the law.
Each of us is guilty of sinning against the Law of God, and no amount of
righteous living, praying, or good works can wash away the stain of our
guilt. To be cleansed, we need a Savior -- someone who has the God-given
authority to wash away our sins.
There lies the uniqueness of the Prophet Jesus. He claimed that He had the
authority to forgive sins. he said that he came down to this earth to die
for the sins of the world.
Every one of us has broken God's Law. We are in debt to Eternal Justice, and
the Law calls for our blood. Its fearful penalty is death and eternal
damnation. However, the Savior Jesus paid the fine for us. He revealed God's
great love for us by taking our punishment. Then He rose from the dead,
defeating death itself, and now all who repent of sin and trust in Him as
Savior and Lord receive remission of sins. He removes sin once and for all.
God then may justly grant salvation (eternal life) to all who trust in Him.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the
Father but through Me."
There are many great religions . . .
but only one Savior. Without Him we will perish, no matter what we believe.
He is the only way to God, "the only Name under Heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved." There is no other Savior -- "Whosoever
transgresses and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, has not God" (2 John
1:9). Read Psalm 51 in the Holy Book, and make it your own prayer. Read the
Bible daily, obey what you read -- by the grace of God, you will secure
eternal salvation.
