Did they fix the JPG issue in 2007?

I posted before but I don't have access to the previous post. In Office
XP, photo editor gave the ability for OLE jpg links in Access. In 2003 for
whatever reason they FORGOT this and never released a PATCH. The solution
is to install the photo editor from a PREVIOUS version of office!!!!

I tried a beta of Office 2007 and it had the same FLAW / BUG. I haven't
tried the latest release. Has this PROBLEM been addressed?

I'm still stunned that they haven't released a PATCH and that this would be
essential for any decent inventory. I would imagine a significant portion
of databases are inventories. Who knows by the next iteration of ACCESS
they may remove the GUI interface. Oh wait - I forgot they wouldn't do
that because the only "improvements" MS cares about anymore is seeing how
close they can get their products to having the same IDIOTIC interface as
the MAC interface. SO INNOVATIVE!

I think the reason they may have done this is the poor design of the
previous wrap for jpgs - causing vast white space bloat for a database. MS
recommends using links and code to make it work. I think Word Perfect
would be the word processor of choice if they recommended adding code
instead of copy and paste for photos in word.

I am in the process of designing a database in 2003, which needs to include
very simple line drawings. In the future we are hoping to create another
database, which may include a lot of JPG images.

I, too, was hoping for a more elegant solution than creating a separate
directory to house images. I just used the Access 2007 online trial and
created a simple database with a name and an image (as an OLD object... the
only possible choice). I filled in a few of the records with images
(rightclicking to insert both linked and unlinked OLE objects). However, the
image always displays as an Icon.

The stuff I've read from microsoft suggests that the embedded JPG will not
be swolen into a monster-sized bmp, and therefore not bloat the database.
But, I'm disapointed that we must apparently resort to VBA to display images
from a database.

I hope they fix this before the final release.

I've noticed one thing which gives me hope. When I use the on-line trial of
Access 2007, and create my database with images, there are images of people's
faces in the "my pictures" directory.

This hints that they are going to make it easy to include employee photos in
an employee database.
