Did detect and repair delete my emails?

Hi, I had an existing outlook personal profile on my laptop. I ended
up importing a pst file into my outlook a few months ago from a work
outlook account. Once all the emails were accessible on my laptop, I
deleted the work pst file that I had imported. All my emails were
still viewable in Outlook.

I recently ran detect and repair and all my email disappeared. I tried
importing or opening all of the pst files that I could find on my pc
(even the hidden ones), but I cannot see the specific folder that I
had imported previously from work. I had assumed that once I imported
the pst file, it became part of the original pst file and I didn't
need the imported pst file any longer. Is this the case? Or, have I
lost that folder?

I really need that folder. How come it isn't there? Was it not
incorporated into the existing pst file when I imported it originally?
Did my deletion of the imported pst file mean that I lost everything
now that detect and repair seems to have removed that folder and those
emails contained within?

Any help would be much appreciated. I really need those emails.
Thanks,

dbt

Did you delete the pst you brought home from work?

Unless you moved the pst's they are in the default location - you can find
it here: http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/filepath.htm - open the folder
and check the file sizes and dates. If you find ones you think might be the
right one, open them using file, open, outlook data file and look at the
contents. Don't import them.

Yes, I did delete the work pst file. It is nowhere on my PC. I thought
that when I imported it into Outlook that is would roll in to the main
pst. So, I deleted my work pst file. I could still see the emails in
Outlook after I deleted the work pst file. But now after the detect
and repair, I can't see it. Is all hope lost? Thanks,
