Purchased office xp for my student: In biology for example, there is a lack of words, For a student they need a dictionar
that will cover words that will be seen in at least High school. Does microsoft have add ons?

Not exactly. There are (pricey) add-on dictionaries available commercially,
primarily legal and medical. Check Google using search terms of "Word
dictionary biology."

Keep in mind that what I am discussing is a spelling checker, not a
definition list.

What might actually be better for your student, though, would be to double
check entries Word marks as misspelled manually against a textbook or other
authoritative resource and then add them to a custom dictionary. That way it
will be easier to spell the term correctly in an exam or quiz.

Microsoft does have the Encarta program which includes a dictionary that has
definitions, I believe.
