The dialing rules of the modem fax are some numbers
(access codes) for outside local and long-distance calls.
These numbers are included with the fax wizards with
outlook numbers but not by passed numbers from outlook.
Contacts only contain the name and the fax number (they
are imported per job)
The mails are set up through word (as described before).
So they are selected through the mail & merge wizard.
There is only a fax profile in outlook which contains the
fax mail transport MAPI.

I am running XP
I have the contact saved in Outlook. The fax number is
recognized and saved in canonical form ( + 1 (111)
1111-
111). If I am in the contact window and go to action-
call contact->fax it will call the number. The dialing
rules are applied here.
If I compose a message to the name in the to form and
send it, it will end in the MS fax console. The number
is
dialed here without the dialing rules.
This is different if I use the MS fax console to
create a
fax. In the wizard I write a cover page, use an outlook
contact and check the box "Use dialing rules". Then
they
will apply. However, I could not find anything similar
to
this when I fax through outlook.
Some additional question:
Is it possible to delete the first posted email-
address?
The box is getting swamped by pseudo MS virus messages.
2nd. If I use word to mail and merge, was it ever meant
to be an automation tool. If I mail out of word as an
attachment, I have to click yes for every email since
it
wants to use Outlooks procedures. I know there's a
patch
through exchange server but we are a small-office
environment, so there's no exchange server.
The other option to send it out as html doesnt make it
any better. In addition to the format issues I have to
click it prints the faxes. This means I have to click
print for every email. This is very tiresome, given
we're
sending hundreds of them and want to avoid the paper.

What irritates me is that checkbox in the fax
service
send wizard. I assume the dialing rules are usually
turned off? I could not find any option in Outlook
to
turn it on.
As said before, the single faxing through the wizard
using outlook contacts works fine.

Like all of its predecessors, the Windows XP Fax
service
will not process
dialing rules unless the phone number to which you
are
sending the fax is in
"international format." Details on how to use
international format to invoke

Hi!
I am using the windows fax console to send a
single
fax
out. I can enable using the dialing rules when
using
the
wizard.
However, if I use Outlook to mail faxes to the
fax
service, dialing rules are not applied. I do not
change
the phone number between those steps, so it is in
the
canonical form.
The idea is to mail and merge a couple of hundred
documents, so the automation is crucial.
