Dial-Up

I use a dial-up connection to the Internet. At least once a day, the
Windows application "forgets" my ID. Instead, it shows "user".

Why does this happen? How can I prevent this?

Concerned about someone (e.g., Pres. Bush) snooping
into your E-mail? Use PGP.

not sure exactly what you mean, goto start menu, network connections,
click on your dialup connection, click properties, enter your username
and passworde and click remember password click ok.. there should be no
issue of it forgetting your username or pasword.. however it will hash
your password so its not visible.

Flamer.

I did almost that. I entered my username and password. But I did not
click remember password. I am quite used to entering my password every
time. Having entered by username, however, I should not have to
re-enter it every time.

I disconnect my dial-up connection whenever I walk away from my PC.
Thus, I'm connecting several times a day. About once a day, my username
comes up as the generic "user".
