dial-up

Jimmy

I am running 2000 server sp4.

I have a dial-in RAS server on my LAN, connected to the
6.0 network...gw is 6.10. I can successfully dial-in and
authenticate. I can ping the 6.0 and 5.0 networks, but
not the 4.0 network. I can make VPN connections to the
6.0 and 5.0 networks, but not the 4.0.

The RAS server has two persistent routes to tell it to go
to 6.10 to get to 5.0 and 4.0. The server itself can ping
4.0 and routing works everywhere internally. But the dial-
up client can't get to 4.0.

I am stumped, please help.

If you are connecting to a routed network, I find it best to put the
dialup clients in their own subnet and route them through the RAS server.
That way normal IP routing rules apply.

Having said that, your current setup should work if the 4.0 subnet can
route to the 6.0 subnet. The RAS server does proxy ARP for the remote
client, so from the 4.0 subnet a remote client looks exactly like a LAN
client.
