Dial-Up Connection starts when opening My Computer

I am using WinXP Pro SP1. I access the WWW via 56k modem.

In the last week, I have been experiencing the following problem:

* When I double-click on "My Computer" or "My Network", the "Dial-Up
Connection" box opens and begins dialing out to my ISP. I have ran Ad-Aware
6.0 a few times, but can find no spyware. I have updated all virus
definitions using NAV 2003 and ran a virus check that came up clean. I have
not loaded any new software in the last 60 days.

Any suggestion as to why this is occurring?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Nope, that did not do it. I am wondering if there is a registry key that
has been changed somehow. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Try this to disable automatic dial completely (means no program can
automatically dial, however you can do manually.)

1. Right click the My computer icon (Desktop), open Manage/Services
and Applications/Services.
2. In the right pane scroll down to Remote Accces Auto Connection
Manager and double click it.
3. Use the Startup type drop box and choose Disabled.

Worked for me - YMMV
