Dial Up Connection re-post

Still having problems.
I posted this message 14th February:

I recently upgraded to XP. I set up my internet connection using the wizard
and everything was fine for 2 weeks.
I was working as normal yesterday, having changed no settings and added no
programs. When I tried to connect by clicking the Explorer icon I got no
dial up connection and the message 'no connection to the internet is
currently available.' I clicked on my Outlook Express icon and the dial up
connection appeared. Once connected via OE I could then access IE with no
problem. The same happened today so I re set my IE connection with the
Wizard. It has now put an extra icon on my desktop showing the name of my
server. I can connect through this but I get a different type of dial up
connection, named 'connect dial up connection'. If I click on the help
buttonon this, what then appears is the normal dial up connection. When
connected wheras before my homepage opened automatically now I get nothing.
I have to click on the IE icon to get my homepage up and although I can
access the internet I keep getting the pop up message saying 'no connection'
(as above) even though I'm connected.

My server is BT Internet.

Very strange. Any ideas please ?

THE ANSWER: (thanks for the suggestions)

1.. Scan with anti virus.

2.. Dowload Spybot Search & Destroy

3.. Download Ad-Aware.

4.. Download LSP-Fix.

5.. Update all these and run the checks.

6.. A lot of people have had this problem since or around 13rh January.
One suspect is the latest Microsoft Security patch - KB 828028. I removed
the patch.

I did all the above. This worked until I rebooted when the problem was back.

Since the I've done a system restrore to 2nd February and run all the above
again, all to no avail.

Quite a few people have found that the Google Toolbar updated itself to
show hearts for Valentine's Day and that caused the problem. Uninstall
and reinstall (without advanced features) fixed the issue for many.

Malke you're a bloody diamond.

Uninstalled Google Toolbar and everything's working again. Thanks again.

I'm thrilled that this worked for you, but I really can't take credit
for discovering this. Thanks for the gold star, anyway! ;-)
