DHCP Server and Service Pack 4

S

Skidmore

I'm about to install the DHCP Service on a W2K Server SP4
system. Looking through the SP4 fixes there do not seem
to be many that relate to DHCP and it looks like one could
install the hotfixes separate from SP4. Do I need to
reapply SP4, or is it sufficient to apply the hotfixes?

Thanks

Hi Skidmore. Thank-you for your post.

Microsoft recommends that you install the service pack rather than the
individual hot fixes. Service packs are tested much, much more thoroughly
than individual hot fixes. I am not saying that there isn't risk
associated with installing a service pack, but systems will generally be in
a better state with a service pack installed. Rather than applying fixes
to a single service like DHCP, other critical components, like TCP/IP will
be fixed (if applicable) as well in a service pack.

I hope this helps you make your decision.
