DHCP reservation with two DHCP servers on the same network

hi everyone,

I have two Windows 2000 DHCP servers on the network, the range on the first
is x.x.x.30 - x.x.x.100
The range on the second server is x.x.x.101 - x.x.x.200

How can I set a reservation for a specific client? If I just set the
reservation on one server then the other server may assign it the incorrect
address if it responds first?

TIA

eddiec :)

You can create the reservation on both DHCP servers and it won't do any
harm. Even if the address were available on both servers (which it isn't
according to your IP address ranges listed above, which is good), it
wouldn't do any harm -- because the client will only lease one address from
one server (whichever server answers the DHCP discover msg first). And if
the address is reserved, no other client can lease the address.
