DHCP Problems

Moin:

In a network segment 192.168.210.0/24 is a server SV1, IP 192.168.210.254,
configured as a PDC and a workgroup server SV2 with WINDOWS 2003 Server,
which is a plain application server. The SV2 is to run DHCP for the
segment 192.168.210.0/24.

When starting the DHCP service on SV2 the following error message is
generated in the event log:

Event Type:Error
Event Source:DhcpServer
Event Category:None
Event ID:1052
Date:26.11.2004
Time:10:34:29
User:N/A
Computer:SV2
Description:
Der DHCP/BINL-Dienst auf diesem Arbeitsgruppenserver hat einen anderen
Server mit
IP-Adresse 192.168.210.254, der zur der Domäne ourdomain.local gehört,
ermittelt.
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 ....

Some days before SV2 was a WINDOWS NT 4.0 server. This didn?t have this
problem.

Anyone out there who knows what to do? The SV1 belongs to another company
that shares the internet access with us. SV1 has no DHCP server for the
segment 192.168.210.0/24. So it would be the best solution whithout having
to "touch" SV1.

Hi Alarich,
It seems that the DHCP server on (workgroup environment) SV2 encountered
another DHCP server whose IP address is 192.168.210.254. This machine is in
a domain environment ourdomain.local gehört.
The current functionality is that a DHCP workgroup server when it finds
another DHCP server in a domain environment, the workgroup server shuts
itself down.
So you have to find out this rouge server and shut it down before starting
the workgroup server SV2.
Hope i have helped you.
Thanks,
