Help with Fatal DNS errors

On our network, we have three W2K domain controllers. Server one (111DATA)
is running DHCP, WINS, and DNS. Server two (110SERVER) is running WINS and
DNS. Server three (213PRINT) is running DNS. Everything was working great
until...

Last week we changed out the motherboard and processor in 110server. We
upgraded from a P4 1.4 GHz on an Intel DG850 board with an Intel Pro 10/100
PCI network card to a P4 2.8 GHz on an Intel D865GBF board with an Intel
onboard 10/100 LAN port. It has the same hard drives and controller card.
All this is to say that now whenever I configure the new network card, I get
a message that says the old network card (which isn't in the system) is
configured with the same address and may cause problems if the old network
card ever becomes active.

Also at the same time, we put SP4 on all three machines. (They were running
SP3)

Now since that time, we are having problems with our 9x clients logging on
to the network. Often times when the user will type in their domain
password, they get a message saying the domain server has refused the
connection.

I checked the Event Log on all three servers and found they all had an event
5782 "Dynamic registration or deregistration of one or more DNS records
failed with the following error: No DNS servers configured for local
system"

111DATA also has the following errors:
Event 5706 "The Netlogon service could not create server share. The
following error occurred: The filename, directory name, or volume label
syntax is incorrect."
Event 3051 "The Registry or the information you just typed includes an
illegal value for 'DynamicSiteName'"
Event 3051 "The Registry or the information you just typed includes an
illegal value for 'SysVol'"

I have verified that Dynamic DNS is set to "Yes" on all forward and reverse
lookup zones.

I have deleted the netlogon.dns file from each server and performed the
following:
ipconfig /registerdns
net stop netlogon
net start netlogon

Could the problem we are having be related to the hidden network card on
110SERVER?

I am including the output of netdiag, dcdiag, and ipconfig from 111DATA
below. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Last week we changed out the motherboard and processor in 110server.

the new network card, I get a message that says the old network card
(which isn't in the system) is configured with the same address and
may cause problems if the old network card ever becomes active.

Win2k does not automatically remove old hardware from the registry, use the
remove hardware wizard, then show hidden devices to remove all instances of
the hardware from the old motherboard and NIC.
Also at the same time, we put SP4 on all three machines. (They were
running SP3)

Your domain is a single-label name, this causes problems with Win2kSP4 and
later, WinXP and Win2k3. You will have to make registry entries on all of
these clients and servers.

I removed the hidden network card from the server and also made the registry
changes reference in the two KB articles; however, I am still getting the
event codes listed previously, and my win9x clients are still having trouble
loggin in.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Still same problems as in previous reply, although...
nslookup is now working; however, netdiag still fails on DNS test. Would it
do any good to delete the netlogon.dns file again and run ipconfig
/registerdns?

Sorry I don't know what happened to this I thought for sure I had pasted
this KB for the 5706 and 3051:

Yes delete the Netlogon.dns and netlogon.dnb then restart the netlogon
service.
run ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns and nediag /fix

The registry changes helped with my problem server, and I am not getting any
Netlogon errors on two of my servers. However I am still getting an event
5782 on my server 110SERVER. Any suggestions?

I notice you have an Intel NIC It may still be seeing remnants of the old
NIC in the registry and it is trying to team them. I'm not positive of this
but this link has a comment about it.

I think I found my problem. "Register this connection's address in DNS" was
unchecked under the DNS settings for the adapter.

It didn't create an error message when I restarted the netlogon service, so
if you don't hear anything from me, assume everything is working correctly
now.
