DHCP not working on Win2k laptop

Hello, I had a major issue last weekend and I had to highjacked a process and
delete it because it was using a lot of the CPU. after I delete it and reboot
I lost the fonctionnality on the LAN ports.
I delete in the Registry the winsock s file, I used winsock fix utility then
I reboot the PC... I wasn't able to get a DHCP address, so I decide to ping
the 127.0.0.1 and the 169.254.xx.xxx and it work fine. So I set a static IP
address, subnet mask and gateway to the Port and it work...

Is someone know why the DHCP is not working anymore...
