DHCP Mystery

Ok heres the problem. I have a wireless access point in my house with
another server acting as the firewall/router and DHCP server.
Everything is fine, my Win2K laptop works over the wireless and my other
computers work fine over the wired lan.

My son brought his IBM laptop home and it doesn't seem to like my DHCP
server. It repeatedly asks for an address, the DHCP server send the
address back, but the Windows XP pro on his laptop doesn't seem to
receive it.

The funny thing is that if I hard code a IP address and gateway
information in the Win XP pro lan adapter, everything works fine. Also,
I disabled my DHCP server and enabled the DHCP server on the Dlink
Access point and the same thing happens.

His laptop works fine when he is using it on other wireless networks
that use DHCP at school and at a local restraunt that has wireless.

I'm banging my head on the wall over this one. I've installed all the
MS Update maintenance that I can and no change in the behavior.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

(e-mail address removed) (easy as removing "1" "2" "3" from my address)

Have you used a network sniffer ( such as NetMon ) to see the DHCP exchange.
It is possible that he is being NACK'ed by the Server.

He isn't being nak'ed by the dhcp server according to the log on the
server it sends back a valid address.
