When XP starts up a bubble appears by the system clock That says "Devices or
application disabled. Direct CD will cause windows to become unstable".
Direct CD has been uninstalled and I still get this message.

That will have left some loose ends in the registry. To tidy up, get a
registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
Direct CD needs to be the version that comes with Easy CD Creator 5 or
later: the earlier versions will not work in XP.

Note: Version 5 of Easy CD Creator requires a special XP patch before it
will work on XP.
