My sons device manager shows empty when accessed
he is using XP home with SP3. has anyone got a solution
thanks to all

Symantec offers XP SP3 fix:

to Norton after having AVG for years. I wont touch Norton, it's to
much of bloatwear

After uninstalling Norton one often has to run this utility to finish the
job:
