Device Manager

Win Vista 32 Home Edition

My ethernet card shows up in "other devices "in the device manager and it
will not load the driver. After 3 hours on the phone with HP they said the
ethernet card should be should be listed under "network adapters" so it will
load the driver.
I question this but does anyone know of a solution?

From where are you getting the driver? Since you called HP, I assume this is
an HP computer. Download the latest driver for your ethernet adapter from
HP's website for your specific model computer. If it isn't "loading the
driver", you are probably trying to install the wrong one. After you
install it, the ethernet adapter will show up in Device Manager under
"Network Adapters" where it belongs.

An Ethernet card should show in 'network adapter'

That it shows in 'other devices' implies that while the system recognizes
that there is something installed, the system is unable to determine what it
is.

The only thing I can suggest is that you reread the installation
instructions carefully and follow them to the letter.
In particular it may be necessary to remove the card, remove any software
you have installed for the card, then reboot.

Now install the software first and then insert the card.

If you provide more information on your computer model and Ethernet model
may lead to more information from other users of the specific hardware.
