Device Manager not listing devices

My Windows 2000 Pro is not listing anything in the right
pane when I click on Device Manager. It is not listing
any hardware devices or their drivers. Never seen
anything like it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
My Windows 2K device manager doesn't have columns. All the devices are
simply listed in a window, like this email message. There are, however,
several views available in the Device Manager. All of them generate an
uncolumned window on my system.
 
Steve, plug % play was not disabled but thanks. Don, I
can't change views or anything else when Device manager
doesn't list anything. Any other suggestions?
