Device Manager and driver problem

Hi

I have been using XP (Home) for just over a year
on a new PC with no problems.

Yesterday my mouse pointer started to get yellow
lines across it. Then the system went into standby mode.

It then started up again - and my display was corrupted.

I have tried everything I know but I keep getting this message
in device manager;

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the trouble-shooter for this device

Trouble-shooter did not help.

I am hoping it's not the graphics card itself,
but if it is - how can I determine if I need a new one?

The card is not PCI but is locked in with a clip.

At the moment I am running VgaSave which seems to be
a basic driver.

Appreciate some help on this one.

I have listed what I have done so far below.

Regards, Stephen

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I have done so far (many, many times);
Removed the 'NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X' graphics card
Removed the drivers (via Add or Remove programs)
Installed the original drivers (from Fujitsu Siemens recovery disc)
Downloaded 'Updated NVidia display pack' direct from Microsoft
Downloaded the latest drivers from NVidia
You have an Advanced Graphics Port type of video card (AGP). After all you have tried, it sounds like a video card problem. I assume that the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" reference in your post refers to the NVidia card. If that is the case and you have tried the latest drivers for this device, then the only other thing to do is verify that you do not have any resource conflicts by going to device manager. If it is possible to get your hands on a loaner 'NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X' board, you can verify that it is not a driver issue. Asside from this obvious suggestion, it sounds like time to buy another video card
